PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars (17-17-1-1) have extended their win streak to four games, with their 4-1 victory over the Victory Royals (12-18-4-0) Wednesday at the CN Centre.

The Cougars swept the midweek doubleheader against their B.C. Division rivals and have won all seven games against Victoria this season.

GAME RECAP

Koehn Ziemmer is red-hot. The 17-year-old scored the Cougars' first two goals of the game and finished with three points. Jonny Hooker and Riley Heidt each scored empty-net goals late in the third period to seal the victory.

With his two-goal effort tonight, Ziemmer now has seven goals in his last four games and has scored in seven-straight home games. Since December 14th, Ziemmer has scored 13 goals which is the most out of any player in WHL.

Ty Young earned his second win of the season, as he stopped 22 of 23 shots in the Prince George net. He was at his best in the middle frame when he stopped 11 of 12 pucks fired his way.

Prince George only had 15 skaters dressed but despite being shorthanded they had another strong start. The Cougars led 2-0 after 20-minutes and outshot the Royals 17-5 in the opening frame.

Victoria cut into the Prince George lead in the second, but when leading 2-1 in the final frame, the Cougars only surrendered six shots to the Royals.

With the win tonight, the Cougars have climbed back up to the five hundred mark for the first time since November 9th.

QUOTE

"When you're winning hockey games, you have to find different ways to win. I liked a lot of things about our game tonight. Ty Young made the big saves when he had to, and the overall team effort was there. That's another two big points for us," said Cougars' General Manager & Head Coach Mark Lamb.
