PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars battled back from a three-goal deficit to earn an overtime point Wednesday, in their 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants.

Down 3-0 midway through the second, the Cougars got a pair of power-play goals from Vladislav Mikhalchuk and Josh Maser at the end of middle frame, and then Reid Perepeluk scored the only goal of the third period to push the game beyond regulation. Taylor Gauthier stopped 26 of 30 shots in the Cougars' net.

The Giants' Bowen Byram salvaged the win for the visitors, scoring 57-seconds into the three-on-three period. Jared Dmytriw, Brayden Watts and Aidan Barfoot scored for the Giants in regulation, who won their third-straight against the Cougars. David Tendeck earned the win, kicking-out 28 shots.

After a scoreless first period, the Giants and Cougars combined for five goals in the second period. The Giants blew the game open, scoring three goals in just under six minutes. But the Cougars' power-play kick-started the comeback.

Mikhalchuk got the Cougars' first goal cashing in on a rebound at the side of the net with four minutes left in the second. Maser made it a one-goal game in the dying moments of the middle stanza, scoring on another Cougars' man-advantage. Maser flew down the left-wing and drove the net, before jamming in his own rebound with just 10 seconds left in the period.

Perepeluk completed the comeback in the third period, spinning around and firing a loose puck through the goalie's pads midway through the frame. Perepeluk scoring his first goal of the season.

The overtime loss extended the Cougars winless streak to 11 games. Despite the setback, the Cougars extended their streak to five games with a power-play goal, and Mikhalchuk stretched his personal point streak to five games. Both Maser and Mikhalchuk reached the 20-goal plateau in the loss.
