Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars Society in conjunction with the Northland Auto Group and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation are very proud to team up for 'Mega Jackpot Pink in the Rink Night' which will take place on Friday, November 18th when the WHL leading Prince George Cougars host the Prince Albert Raiders at CN Centre. Net proceeds from the 50/50 draw will be donated to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. On top of the Mega Jackpot, the Prince George Cougars will be wearing special commemorative pink jerseys that night which will be auctioned off in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
"What makes this a major and OUTRAGEOUS announcement is that at NOON on November 18th, the Northland Auto Group is purchasing $20,000 worth of tickets to get the pot started. It makes my head spin to wonder just how high the pot will grow that night, and some lucky fan is going to walk away with a huge pocket full of money, and thanks to the Cougars wonderful partners at Northland Auto Group, the Spirit of the North is going to benefit from what will hopefully be an enormous donation," said Prince George Cougars Vice President - Business Andy Beesley.
Beesley adds, "The last time the PG Cougars Society did a mega jackpot, the pot ended up at over $67,000, and that was after having to shut down sales in the first intermission due to the extreme load on our equipment. Since then, our team has upgraded the entire 50/50 system to NHL standards, and we are 100% confident that we can easily handle anything! This time around all 19+ adults with tickets to the game can beat the line ups and purchase 50/50 tickets starting at NOON at the CN Centre".
"On behalf of Peter Sia, Kyle Bachman, and I, along with all our employees at the Northland Auto Group, we are very excited to be able to help support such an incredible night of raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation," comments Jim Meier, Regional Controller - Northland Auto Group. "Northland's in the Spirit" and our Auto Group is committed to giving back to this great community of Prince George and the Northern region that supports our three dealerships. We believe strongly in supporting the Spirit of the North as Northern healthcare is something that everybody needs. We also express our gratitude to the Prince George Cougars for our continued relationship and we thank them for the opportunities which allow us to help give back to this amazing community. We look forward to a fun, exciting and "pink" packed CN Centre on November 18th."
Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation CEO Judy Neiser adds, "We are thrilled to be the recipient of the proceeds from this event. We have a terrific partnership with the Prince George Cougars and the Northland Auto Group collectively and we are happy to see their wishes for better health outcomes in the North realized through these contributions."
Since the beginning of the 2014-15 season, our fans have won close to a half million dollars from the 50/50 Society draws. The Prince George Cougars Society has used proceeds from previous 50/50 draws to support many local sports teams and organizations.
Heading into action this week the Cougars are coming off a 7-0 victory over the Kamloops Blazers and currently lead the B.C. Division by eight points with a record of 15-4-2-0. They have been nationally ranked in the CHL Top 10 for the past seven weeks (Number 3 last week) and they return to action tomorrow at 7:05 PM when they battle the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.
