LUBBOCK COTTON KINGS
2002-03 WEEKLY RELEASE
FOR THE WEEK OF MAR 10 â 16TH
DONSKOV IS "THE MAN"
Anthony Donskov earned CHL recognition Monday, earning the CHL "Man of the Year" award, which is presented annually to the CHL player adjudged to have best exemplified strong leadership qualities on and off the ice, while making significant and noteworthy humanitarian contributions to his community. The second year pro has made a significant impact on his adopted community of Lubbock, establishing the "Caps For Courage" program to benefit the Kelsey Logan Angel Fund, founded in May of 1995 by Pam and Brad Logan to honor the memory of their daughter, Kelsey, who died of cancer at the age of 2½. The Fund is solely dedicated to helping those under the age of 18 who suffer from cancer, through assistance with medical costs not covered by insurance, as well as any other additional manners in which to bring joy into the lives of young cancer patients. "Caps For Courage" sells autographed caps for $25.00 with all profits going directly to this most worthwhile cause. To date, the program has raised nearly $4,000.00 dollars. "This award does not mean this program has come to a close," said Donskov. "This is a program that benefits children in the Lubbock area that battle the same problems as children everywhere, and my goal is to have âCaps for Courage' embraced by all CHL teams to benefit children in their market." CHL President Brad Treliving extended his congratulations to Donskov, noting "We have the distinct honor of having numerous players within the CHL who are highly committed to lending their assistance to worthwhile causes, and are most pleased to recognize Anthony's tireless dedication to helping those less fortunate." Donskov becomes the first âKing to ever achieve the league award.
