Cotton earns second CFL Lineman of the Week Award

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats would like to acknowledge defensive end James Cotton for being named the CFL Lineman of the Week for the second time this season after his performance against the Toronto Argonauts on September 5th. Cotton recorded three tackles and returned the first interception of his CFL career 15 yards for a touchdown.
"James is a guy with a strong work ethic," said Ticats defensive front coach Dennis McPhee. "Having James on the field is like having another coach out there because of his ability to understand what will happen before a play develops. He's a quiet leader who has a keen sense of what's taking place on the field."
The 6-2, 245-pound native of Cleveland, Ohio leads the Ticats with six quarterback sacks and has made 19 defensive tackles in nine games this season. Cotton was also named CFL Lineman of the Week for his three-sack performance against the Ottawa Renegades during week seven.
Ticats defensive tackle DeVonte Peterson was named second runner-up for CFL Lineman of the Week while QB Danny McManus was named second runner-up for Offensive Player of the Week honours.
Cotton and the rest of the Ticats (2-8) travel to Toronto on September 10th to take on the Argonauts (6-4) at 3:00 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcasted live on AM 900 CHML.
