Corvallis Knights News Release
Your defending West Coast League champion Corvallis Knights (14-4) are off to a great start and return to Goss riding a 10-game win streak! We lead the West Division and have already captured series against Walla Walla, Klamath Falls, Cowlitz and Bend.
And now we're finally returning to Corvallis for our first long homestand of the year after playing 12 of our first 18 league games on the road. We play nine games in a row at Goss Stadium, culminating with our annual holiday Fireworks Night, which this year is on July 2. H ere's what's coming up:
Friday is the All Family Vision Care $1,000 Kids Dash for Cash.
Sunday is Re:new Church HOPE Night, presented by 107.9 FM.
June 26 is a BI-Mart $2 Tuesday, with $2 GA tickets available to BI-Mart members. It's also our first Coors Light $2 Tuesday.
June 27 is Holiday Inn Express Baseball Giveaway Night, The first 500 fans receive a free baseball. GA tickets for our 60-plus fans are just $2, and popcorn is just $1.
June 28 is Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths 20th Anniversary Night and Block 15 Thursday, with a discounted Block 15 brew and $1 hot dogs.
June 29 is Cowbell Night, presented by Linn Benton Tractor. The first 5-00 fans receive a free cowbell. Nachos are only $1.
June 30 is Edward Jones Client Appreciation Night. The first 100 fans receive a free insulated drink tumbler.
July 1 is Pioneer Telephone Military Appreciation Night, presented by KRKT-FM. All active and retired military personnel are admitted free.
And July 2 is our annual OSU Federal Credit Union Fireworks Night. Come see one of the top fireworks shows in the Willamette Valley!

Knights Sign With Major-League Teams
Fourteen players with connections to the Knights were selected in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. Nine have signed professional contracts and will soon begin their quest to play in the big leagues.
Our 2012 signees were Carson Kelly (2012), Westview High School, St. Louis; Zach Green (2012), Jesuit (Calif.) High School, Philadelphia; Mitch Haniger (2010), Cal Poly, Milwaukee; Kyle Kraus (2009-10), Portland, Boston; Chris Johnson (2011), Portland, San Francisco; Matt Duffy (2010), Long Beach State, San Francisco; Taylor Ard (2009), Washington State, Seattle;Thomas McCarthy (2010), Kenticky, Chicago White Sox; Mark Trentacosta (2011), UC Irvine, St. Louis; Bo Altobelli (2010), Texas Tech, Minnesota, and Eddie Orozco (2008-09) of UC Riverside (Chicago Cubs).
Matt Boyd (2010) of Oregon State (Cincinnati) was drafted but has not signed. Catcher Austin Barr of Camas (Wash.) High, a 2012 Knight who has signed to play at Stanford, was also drafted (New York Mets) but will play college baseball.
Ryan Gorton (2011) of Oregon State signed with Oakland, but the contract was not finalized because he did not pass a physical due to a knee injury.
We now have more than 30 Knights alums in affiliated baseball.
More Roster Moves Announced
We've added:
* Pitcher Taylor Starr of Oregon State, who became available when he received another year of eligibility via medical hardship. Taylor was named first-team All-WCL in 2008 as a closer for the Knights.
* Pitcher Mitch Patito of UC Riverside, a two-year Knights veteran, wasn't drafted and decided to play for Corvallis for a third summer.
We've dropped:
* Some of our 10-day signees were released when our full-time players arrived. We'd like to thank Caylen Clardy (Siskyous), Chris Bishop (PLU), Beau Fraser (Portland), Tyler Campbell (Lake Oswego HS), Kendall Motes (Mt. Hood CC), Tristan Metcalf (Mt. Hood CC) and Alex Keenan (George Fox) for helping us get off to a great start. Not only did they play well, they represented their schools and the Knights very well in our community and on the road.
Starker Forests Baseball Clinic Set for June 30
Our annual Starker Forests Youth Baseball Clinic is set for June 30 at Goss Stadium, from 9 a.m. until noon. The clinic is free.
Top Honors for Mahle, Fry, Sherfy and Green
UC Santa Barbara first baseman/pitcher Greg Mahle, a 2012 Knight, was recently named a freshmen All-American by Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball, and a second-team freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Mahle hit .347 (66-190), with 35 RBIs, and was 3-4, 3.88 as a pitcher, with four saves and 45 strikeouts in 46.1 innings, in 2012.
Oregon State pitcher Jace Fry (2011) was an honorable mention Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American.
Oregon sophomore pitcher Jimmie Sherfy (2011) was named a second-team National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American.
And former Knights 1B/DH Dean Green (2008) was selected to the Midwest League all-star team. He plays for the West Michigan Whitecaps, a single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. It's the second year in a row he's been an all-star. He made the New York-Penn League honors team while playing for the Connecticut Tigers in 2011.

Annual Scout OverKnighter Set for Tomorrow Night
Our annual Boy Scout OverKnighter at Goss Stadium is scheduled for Friday, June 22, after the Knights face WCL Portland on $1,000 Dash for Cash Night, presented by All Family Vision Care.
Your $12 ticket includes a general admission ticket to the game; a postgame movie on videoboard; an overnight stay on the outfield grass, and breakfast the following morning.
