The visiting Top Speed Baseball was no match for the Bend Elks on Wednesday, as the Elks over matched Top Speed in every facet of the game.
The Elks had 12 hits in the ball game against Top Speed as they Took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the 4th inning and never looked back.
Tommy Pluschkell went 3-3 in the ball game and scored twice, Jordan Copeland went 2-2 with an walk and an RBI Double, and Brent Jones appeared in his first Elks game of the year, getting the win. Jones went 5 innings, giving up 1 r un on 2 hits while striking out 5.
The Bend Elks (8-5) beat the Kitsap Blue Jackets (5-14) in West Coast League Action on Wednesday by a score of 11-3.
6 different Elks had multi-hit games and every Elk in the starting lineup reached base in the game Wednesday that provided 22 hits between the two teams. Daniel Grazzini got the win in the game in relief of JR Bunda, who started and went 4 innings, giving up one run on two hits while walking four and striking out three. Grazzini threw two scoreless innings after Bunda, and the rest of the bullpen gave up just two hits the rest of the way, pitching ahead for most of the game with a comfortable lead.
Will Sparks and Parker Guinn, the teammates from the University of Washington, each drove in two runs on the night from the eight and nine spots in the lineup. Steven Halcomb, Tommy Pluschkell, Ryne Clark, and Logan Frandsen scored two runs a piece on the night, snapping the Elks 3 game losing streak in West Coast League Play.
The Elks resume action with game 2 of the 3 game series on Thursday, first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
