Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Falcons would use a five run second inning to help in their 13-1 win over the Walla Walla Sweets on Wednesday night.
The Falcons would bat around the order in the second inning compiling six hits highlighted by RBIs from Andrew Firth, Cameron Alvarado, Jace Conrad (2) and Kyle Pearson.
The home side would also hit two more homeruns on the night and have now six homers in the last four games. On Wednesday night Kelowna native Ryan Stajduhar and newcomer Jerry McClanahan would go deep for the first time this season. McClanahan was named the Player of the Game after recording a single, double and homerun as well as scoring two runs and driving in two others.
Seven of the nine starters in the Falcons line up had multi-hit games, including three by Alvarado, Pearson and McClanahan.
The Falcons have now compiled 38 hits in the first two games of this series and have scored 25 times.
Starting pitcher Cord Cockriil was bumped up a day because of an illness to Brandon Marris. Cockrill would last 5.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out four. Alan Scott, in his home debut, was terrific out of the bullpen. Scott would allow just two hits over the course of 3.2 innings and would strikeout two. Cockrill (2-0) earns his second win of the summer.
The Falcons (8-5) and Sweets (4-10) will play game three of this four game set on Thursday night at Elks Stadium, gates open at 5:30, first pitch at 6:35pm. Thursday night is a special fundraiser as ALL gate admission will be donated to the BC Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
