Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders running Jon Cornish has been named one of the CFL's Top Performers for Week 4 of the Canadian Football League season.
As part of a new weekly and monthly awards format honouring the league's top three performers regardless of position, Cornish is being honoured after rushing for 120 yards on 15 carries in Saturday's win over the Blue Bombers.
In the third quarter, with the Stamps starting a drive at their own three-yard line, Cornish was instrumental in helping the Stamps march down the field 107 yards to the end zone. On the series, Cornish ran the ball four times for 66 yards including runs of 26 and 21 yards. Quarterback Drew Tate capped off the drive with a go-ahead touchdown.
Cornish is closing in on Earl Lunsford (6,994) for third spot on the Stamps' all-time career rushing list, needing just 468 yards.
