Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the International Hockey League, announce Chicago Blackhawk featured soloist, James Cornelison will sing the Canadian and American National Anthems during the K-Wings' 28th Annual "World Famous" Fifth-Third Bank Green Ice Game, presented by The CW 7 and WRKR.
The annual classic will occur on Tuesday, March 17th, as the K-Wings host the Muskegon Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m.
Since 1993 Jim has been a professional opera singer. Traveling around the United States with his wife and son, Jim followed singing opportunities until he came to Chicago in 1995 to join the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists. During his tenure there, he was seen in numerous productions and after leaving in 1998 sang on stages throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Setting the tone before the opening face-off, the Blackhawks have created a traditional roar through the American National Anthem and Cornelison has been the anchor that incites the thunderous ovation from the fans that creates a goose-bump atmosphere. The K-Wings are hoping their fans will duplicate the atmosphere during the 28th Annual "World Famous" Fifth-Third Bank Green Ice Game.
Also returning to green ice game will be the Kalamazoo Pipe Band, which will play in the concourse before the game, as well as the first period intermission.
Following the contest, the K-Wings will auction off their special St. Patrick's Day jerseys.
Single-game tickets for the entire K-Wings 2008-09 home schedule are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Tickets range from $9.90-$14.90.
