ASHEBORO, N.C. - The Copperheads scored four runs in both the first and third inning as they pounded out 16 hits en route to a 12-6 win over Thomasville on Friday night at McCarary Park.

Thomasville (7-8) scored a run in the first inning off Patrick Dolan (W, 2-0) without getting a hit as Brock Hebert walked and moved to third on a throwing error and scored on a wild pitch.

However, the lead didn't last long as Asheboro (13-4) scored four runs against Conner Scarborough (L, 1-2) in the first inning, the big blow was two-run single from Tommy Simis and after one it was 4-1 Copperheads.

Asheboro added to their 4-2 in the third with another four run inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Lucas Whitt and after three, it 9-2 Copperheads.

The HiToms made a run at the lead late in the game as they chased Dolan from the game as the scored four in the fifth inning. Jacob Fisher had the big hit of the innings for the HiToms as he singled home two with two men down in the inning to trim the lead to three runs at 9-6.

Austin Moyer came on for the HiToms and did a great job keeping the Copperheads at bay however, in the sixth inning, Moyer and the Tommies gave up three runs as Asheboro saw their lead grow to 12-6.

Thomasville couldn't rally as they dropped their third consecutive game of the season to the Copperheads 12-6.

Whitt was the offensive star for Asheboro going four of five at the plate with a triple, two singles and a three RBI.

The Tommies return to Finch Field tomorrow as they welcome the Martinsville Mustangs to town for a double header. Game one will begin at 6:00, additionally all Little Leaguers wearing their uniform will get into the twin bill for free.
