Kamloops, BC - Forward Connor Zary has been selected in the 1st round, 24th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Zary had a standout 2019-20 season with 38 goals, 48 assists and 86 points in 57 games. He was named to the WHL's Western Conference First All-Star team.

In 188 career games with the Blazers over the last three seasons, Zary has 182 points. He also has suited up for Hockey Canada at the 2019 Under-18 World Championships and attended Hockey Canada's virtual National Junior Camp in the summer.

Zary is the 15th player in franchise history to be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft. Other alumni selected in the first round include Keaton Ellerby (2007), Devan Dubnyk (2004), Scottie Upshall (2002), Shaonne Morrison (2001), Robyn Regehr (1998), Shane Doan (1995), Jarome Iginla (1995), Nolan Baumgartner (1994), David Wilkie (1992), Scott Niedermayer (1991), Darryl Sydor (1990), Dave Chyzowski (1989), Ryan Stewart (1985), Doug Bodger (1984).
