Wilmington Sharks News Release
Wilmington, N.C. - Travis Connolly had another great outing on the hill for the Sharks on Tuesday night, as he threw seven innings and gave up one run on five hits while striking out three in the Sharks 3-1 win over the Fayetteville SwampDogs.
Cody Dolan beat out an infield single in the first inning for the Sharks to drive in Andrew Amaro to give the Sharks an early 1-0 lead. In the second inning, John Fidanza laced a double down the right field line with one out to get into scoring position. Fidanza reached third after a hit to right side off the bat of Zach MacAneney and later scored on a pass ball to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead.
Dolan reached in the third inning on a fielder's choice. Two batters later Zach Stephens continued his hot hitting by driving Dolan in to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead, which was plenty of run support for Connolly.
Connolly recorded his second win of the year to bring his record to 2-1 and Seth Lucio was credited with the save his first of the year.
The Sharks move to 5-4 with the victory and take on the Morehead City Marlins on the road in a doubleheader with the first pitch slated for 6:05 p.m.
