
Harsh's 16 K's Lead Marlins to Doubleheader Sweep over Petersburg

Morehead City, N.C. - Nathan Harsh (Kennesaw State), tied a Morehead City Marlins (5-6) for strikeouts with 16 as he led the Marlins to 2-0 victory over the Petersburg Generals (2 - 10) in game two of a doubleheader and Big Rock Stadium on Tuesday night in Morehead City, NC. The Marlins also picked up a come from behind victory in game one, defeating the Generals by a score of 6-3.
The Marlins took a 1-0 lead on a solo shot to left field by Chase McDonald in the first inning of game number one, but then fell behind after the Generals scored three runs in the top half of the fifth on a couple of defensive miscues and a passed ball.
Morehead City answered back in the bottom half of the sixth when Dalton Britt hit a two-RBI single down the right field line with just one out in the inning to tie the game at 3-3. Cole Billingsley then crushed an RBI single to right field and Bo Way added an RBI single to right-center completing the five-run fifth inning and giving the Marlins the 6-3 lead.
Sam Ott roped an RBI triple in the bottom half of inning number one and later scored on an RBI single by Chase McDonald to give the Marlins an early 2-0 lead in the contest. The story of the game was Harsh's dominant strikeout performance. He struck out every single batter in the lineup at least one time en route to his first victory of the year. He went six innings, allowing no runs on just three infield singles and struck out 16. Jonathan Bobea picked up the save for the Marlins in relief with a solid seventh inning, which included three strikeouts.
The Marlins continue their homestand tomorrow night with a doubleheader against the Wilmington Sharks. First pitch will be at 6:05 PM and plenty of tickets are still available. Also, tomorrow night is superhero night so dress up as your favorite superhero and come out and enjoy some great baseball!
The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
