UNCASVILLE, Conn. (October 15, 2008) - The Connecticut Sun will be participating in the 17th Annual Start! Rocky Neck Heart Walk on Saturday, October 19th. The walk will take place at Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic.

The walk, a major fundraiser for the American Heart Association, begins with registration at 9 a.m. and the Start! walk will begin at 10 a.m. For more information, please visit www.rockyneckheartwalk.com.

The aim of the walk is to get people to increase their physical activity and to combat rising health care costs. Physical inactivity significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 cause of death in the United States.

"We are very excited to be able to participate in the Start! Rocky Neck Heart Walk on Sunday," said Gwendolyn Pointer, Sun director of marketing. "This is a great cause, and is an excellent way for our staff to support a great cause."

Start! is presented by the American Heart Association. Local sponsors include Pfizer Corporation and Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino. Start! is sponsored nationally by Subway, Healthy Choice and AstraZeneca.
