Connecticut Sun Falter to the Seattle Storm

The Connecticut Sun (8-3) fell to the Seattle Storm (10-2), 89-66 at home on Sunday afternoon. The Sun lost their first home game and first game in regulation this season. The two previous losses were both on the road in overtime.

Jonquel Jones missed her first game of the season due to commitment with the Bosnia Herzegovina National Team.

The 66 points scored by Connecticut was its lowest total of the season. The previous low was 72 in a 72-65 win at Las Vegas on May 23rd.

The three former UConn players (Stewart, Bird and Samuelson) scored 22 of the Storm's 23 points to start the game.

Dijonai Carrington made her first career start and had five of Connecticut's six rebounds to start the game. Her previous high for rebounds in a game was three. She finished with a season-high seven rebounds to go with four points this afternoon.

Emma Cannon made her Sun debut. She had five points all in the third quarter, as she made both field goals she attempted in the third.

Brionna Jones scored in double figures for the sixth time in the last seven games and the seventh time this season as she had 12 points.

Dewanna Bonner had a team-high tying 14 points scoring in double figures for the 10th time this season.

Kaila Charles scored a season-high and game-tying high 14 points, all in the fourth quarter. She had eight points total this season entering the game. She was 6- for-9 from the floor and made one of two from 3-point range.

Natisha Hiedeman scored her 100th point this season on a three-pointer at the end of the first quarter.

Jasmine Thomas collected her 900th assist in a Connecticut Sun uniform.

Seattle used a 14-2 second quarter run to take a 43-24 lead with 2:33 left in the first half. The Sun would score the final five points of the half and trailed 43-29 at the break.

The 29 first half points were the second lowest in the first half this season (27 at Las Vegas on May 23). The 16 first quarter points were the least in the first quarter this season for Connecticut.

Breanna Stewart finished with 25 points and nine rebounds. Mercedes Russell and Sue Bird finished the game with 20 points a piece. This is a new season high for Russell as her previous was 12.

Connecticut committed 17 turnovers compared to Seattle's eight. The Sun shot a low of 60 field goal attempts.

Seattle scored 40 points in the paint compared to Connecticut's 36. The Storm had 10 second chance opportunities where the Sun had six.
