Connecticut Sun News Release
Uncasville, CT - Today, the Connecticut Sun officially announced its 'Steals for Meals' program as part of a slew of in-game initiatives that will run throughout the 2023 season. Connecticut Sun partners, Dunkin' and MJ23 Sports Bar & Grill, will be the presenting sponsors of the initiative.
"The 'Steals for Meals' initiative aligns closely with the mission of the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation, which is to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger as well as illness," said Michelle McDonough, senior manager, Dunkin' Field Marketing. "Dunkin' is proud to partner with the Connecticut Sun to combat food insecurity and help families throughout the region."
'Steals for Meals' is an in-game initiative in support of combating family food insecurity. For every steal at a home game, $10 will be donated to support the efforts of Connecticut Sun community partner, FRESH New London, who provide community members in New London County with fresh produce, run community gardens, organize a weekly food bank, and create and distribute garden boxes to those in need.
"MJ23 Sports Bar & Grill is thrilled to partner with the Connecticut Sun for the 'Steals for Meals' in-game initiative that supports FRESH New London in their mission to lessen the strain of food insecurity in the local community." - Jennifer Stewart, General Manager, MJ23 Sports Bar & Grill
'Steals for Meals' was born from the Connecticut Sun players and the importance the team put on combating food insecurity. Providing easier access to meals for families within the community is an important initiative that aids in providing healthy and fulfilling lifestyles.
"Food insecurity is a cause that is deeply important to the entire Connecticut Sun organization, from front office staff to players. To have the support from our corporate partners to continue to increase our strength in the fight against hunger is truly special. We are so grateful to Dunkin' and MJ23 Sport Bar & Grill for their commitment to helping us in our efforts." - Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager
