UNCASVILLE, CT. (Jan. 21, 2004) — The Connecticut Sun will open the 2004 season on Saturday, May 22 (4 p.m.) at Mohegan Sun Arena against the Phoenix Mercury in a nationally-televised game on ABC.

This will be the first of five nationally-televised games for the Sun. Connecticut will host Svetlana Abrosimova, Tamika Williams and the Minnesota Lynx in an ESPN2 game on Thursday, July 22 (8 p.m.), San Antonio in an Oxygen Network game on Saturday, July 24 (12 p.m.), Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm in an ESPN2 game on Sunday, Sept. 12 (2 p.m.), and Indiana on Sunday, Sept. 19 (12 p.m.) on Oxygen.

"We're excited to tip off our second season, and to be one of the featured teams on the national television schedule," said Chris Sienko, general manager of the Connecticut Sun. "We're excited to build on the success of our first season."

Connecticut opens the season with a four-game homestand – its longest of the season – before going on the road to face Washington Friday, June 4. The Sun return home to face Swin Cash and the defending WNBA champion Detroit Shock on Sunday, June 6, in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Finals.

The Sun also have a three-game homestand beginning with Washington on June 30, and includes Indiana on July 6 and Sacramento on July 9. Following that game against the Monarchs, the Sun play five straight and eight of nine on the road.

This season will be interrupted during the month of August because of the 2004 Summer Olympics. The Sun resume their schedule on Sept. 1 at Charlotte.
