
Connecticut Salvages Final Game of Series

NORWICH, CT-The Connecticut Tigers (19-21) salvaged the final game of a three game series 4-2 against the West Virginia Black Bears (22-20). The win snapped a four game losing streak for the Tigers.
Connecticut scored single runs in each of the first two innings. Dario Agrazal (4-3) started the game for West Virginia and after shortstop AJ Simcox reached on an error leading off the bottom of the first inning Agrazal allowed an RBI single to second basemen Brett Pirtle.
In the second inning right fielder Tanner Donnels started the frame with a single and scored on a sacrifice fly from leftfielder Jacob Kapstein making it 2-0 Connecticut.
With the score now 2-1 the Tigers once again pushed single runs across in the fourth and fifth innings. Designated hitter Cam Gibson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded forcing in the third run. The following inning third basemen Josh Lester walked to begin things and later scored on a double play ball to make it 4-1.
Matt Hall started the game for Connecticut and worked the first three innings giving up three hits and one run. Hall struck out five and walked one. Chase Edwards (5-3) pitched the final six innings in relief. He didn't allow a run until the ninth and scattered four hits while striking out three and hitting a man.
Dario Agrazal (4-3) pitched the first five innings and gave up eight hits, four runs, three earned. Agrazal struck out three and walked three.
Connecticut will play the first game of the three game series at Aberdeen on Monday. The first pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play a 76 game schedule that runs from mid June through early September. 2015 season tickets, group tickets, mini plans, individual game tickets, and team merchandise are now on sale!
