SERIES HISTORY:
Tonight is Game 4 of the 2006-2007 Kelly Cup National Conference Semifinals Playoff series between Bakersfield and Alaska. The Condors trail the best-of-seven series 3-0 after the Aces overtime win Friday night at The Nest.
Game 3 at The Nest provided the best opportunity so far in the series for Bakersfield to get into the win column, but Derek Gustafson didn't let it happen. The Alaska netminder stopped all 44 Condors shots in regulation and overtime, and Kevin Croxton eventually scored on a power play at 3:10 of the extra session to give the Aces a stranglehold on the series. It was just the 19th 1-0 game in Kelly Cup Playoffs history, and the ninth to be decided in overtime.
Game 2 was a strong effort but a tough loss as well for Bakersfield. The Condors led 1-0 on Josh Liebenow's goal late in the first, and seemingly had control of the play through the second period. But the Aces scored shorthanded late in that period, and twice more in the third to take a 3-1 lead. Reagan Leslie's brilliant solo rush pull the Condors within 3-2 late, but it wasn't enough.
Game 1 was all Alaska. The Aces scored twice in each period, and Gustafson blanked them, 6-0.
