BEAUMONT, TX - The Texas Wildcatters evened up the best-of-seven South Division Final series at two with a 3-1 victory over the Florida Everblades on Saturday night at Ford Arena in front of a crowd of 1,551. Matt Yeats came up big in net for Texas while three different goal scorers provided the offense in the closest contested game of the series thus far.

For the second straight night it was the Everblades though that got off to a quick start. Reggie Berg, who was playing in his first game of the series, opened the scoring by following up his own shot while he and Brent McDonald broke in on a 2-on-1 rush. Berg's first playoff goal came after his shot from the right circle was stopped by Yeats, but the rebound was collected by Berg who shoved the puck into the net at 3:25 of the period.

Texas however answered after winning a faceoff in their own end and chipping the puck off the left boards. Ben Thomson streaked onto the loose puck and broke in clean on Everblades goaltender Craig Kowalski chipping the shot up over Kowalski's glove at 9:53. The Wildcatters then notched what would eventually turn into the game winning goal when Daniel Sparre notched his third goal of the series and sixth of the playoffs by slapping home a centering pass by Kevin Baker at 6:58 of the middle period. Texas closed out the scoring late in the third period with an empty net goal by Baker with 44 seconds remaining. The goal came with Texas on the power play.

Yeats did the rest making several big saves in the third period on his way to stopping 34 Everblade shots to raise his record to 2-2 in the playoffs. Kowalski performed well, but suffered the tough-luck loss allowing the three goals on 32 Texas shots, but saw his playoff record fall to 5-2.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the game 0-for-6, while the Wildcatters closed out the night 1-for-6.
