Condors In The Community: Hockey-Thon This Weekend

Monday, Mar. 15

Ladies Nightreturns to Rabobank Arena from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Fans have the chance to get up close and personal with some of their favorite players. The event includes tours of the arena, learning about the game and having dinner with the players. Head Coach Marty Raymondwill also be there to talk Condors hockey.

The "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl will be on "ESPN Radio 1230's "There It Is: The Jake Stevens Show" at 6:45 p.m.

Tuesday, Mar. 16

RW Ryan Menei will appear on ABC23's Morning Show at 6:30 a.m. Hosts Mike Hart and Crystal Figueroa will discuss the upcoming schedule, including crucial home games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Wednesday, Mar. 17 The Condors host the Ontario Reign at a special time of 6 p.m. for St. Patrick's Day Happy Hour, presented by ABC23, 98.5 The Fox and Bud Light. All game long, hot dogs will be just $1. Thursday, Mar. 18 The Condors Coach's Show, hosted by the Kevin Bartl, will air live at Tailgaters from 5-6 p.m on ESPN Radio 1230. The show will include Head Coach Marty Raymondand player (TBD).

Friday, Mar. 19

Colonel Claw'd will help appear at the Rafer Johnson Children's Center Opening DayFestivities, located at 1100 9th St., from 9:30-11:00 a.m. The Colonel will be there in support of the kids, who will be participating in a fun day of games and activities.

The Condors play the Victoria Salmon Kings for a two-game set, beginning at 7.pm. It's Andrew Ianiero Bobblehead Giveaway, presented by KGET-TV 17 and Goodwill Industries. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under will receive a bobblehead of the team captain. This is a highly sought after promotion, so be sure to get your tickets early.

Saturday, Mar. 20

Bakersfield and Victoria complete their weekend series at 7 p.m. for the Condors Fight Cancer Hockey-Thon, presented by 29 Eyewitness News, KUZZ 107.9 and the Bakersfield Californian. This game will wrap up 24+ straight hours of hockey, as the Condors look to raise money for Links for Life in the battle against breast cancer. Everyone in attendance will receive a Condors cheer sign. It is also Mercy & Memorial Hospitals, Wells Fargo Bank & Diamond Technologies T.H.I.N.K. Night (Turn Hockey Into New Knowledge). The program allows students to earn terrace tickets to tonight's game through exceptional performance in the classroom. Plus,all season ticket holders are invited to take the ice for a skate with the team immediately following the game (limited skate rental available for $5 per pair). Season ticket holders also receive complimentary rinkside or executive tickets to be used to recruit additional season ticket holders. Contact your ticket rep for more information.

To participate in the Hockey-Thon, players can register by clicking here, then printing out the donations sheet and begin collecting pledges. A minimum of $200 is required to play. All participants will play in several games during the event and receive two tickets to the Condors games on Mar. 19 and Mar. 20, while the top three pledge collectors will split 15 lower level tickets to a Los Angeles Kings game, with transportation included. The first 200 sign-ups will receive a free 6th Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon jersey. The celbrity/alumni game begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Ice Sports Center, located behind Rabobank Arena. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. Following the alumni game, the jerseys will be signed and auctioned off.

Condors Food Drive collects nearly 2,000 pounds

The Condors hosted their annual food drive on Tuesday, prior to their contest against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Fans donated 1,910 pounds of food that benefitted the Kern County Food Bank and Golden Empire Gleaners.The total was the third highest in the event's 12-year history and was just 110 pounds off of the record set last season. The Condors have donated nearly 15,000 pounds of food in that span to local charities through the annual Food Drive.

"The food we received from the Condors and their fans is a huge help to the community," said Ian Anderson, Acting Program Manager of the Kern County Food Bank. "Every little bit helps, but large quantities like this go a long way. We're grateful to be able to work with the Condors each year to help those in need."
