South Carolina Stingrays News Release
This week the South Carolina Stingrays welcomed the Florida Everblades to North Charleston Coliseum for a three-game weekend series for a week record of 1-1-1. The Stingrays celebrated Military Appreciation Night on Friday by wearing special camouflage jerseys and skated away with a 3-1 win in front of 6,088. Rookie forward Rob Ricci netted his 23 goal of the season and forwards Jake Hauswirth and Trent Campbell added tallies in the Stingrays' fifth win of the season against Florida. On Saturday, the Stingrays celebrated Faith and Fun Night and hosted a post-game concert with Group 1 Crew. Ricci buried the only goal of the game for the Stingrays and Everblades forward Milan Gajic scored in overtime for a 2-1 victory. Stingrays goaltender Todd Ford stopped 26 of 28 Everblades shots. Earning one point in the extra session, the Stingrays secured their spot in the 2010 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. The two teams wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with the Everblades grabbing a 2-1 win in regulation. Forward Gregg Johnson lit the lamp on the power play in the third period and the Stingrays fired 16 total shots in the final frame, but could not solve Everblades goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu to tie the contest.
