Condors' Domination Continues

Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons opened up a five-game home stand on Friday night at Selland Arena with a 3-2 loss to the Bakersfield Condors, running the club's winless streak to five straight games.

Thanks to goaltender Mark Gowan, Fresno actually took a lead into the second period despite getting outshot 18-7 in the opening 20 minutes. The Condors' Paul Rosebush led off the scoring at 9:47 when he one-timed a shot past Gowan, but the Falcons responded with a power play goal from Colin Embley two minutes later. Fresno took their improbable 2-1 lead at 19:26 of the first when Ryan Kiley scored his second in a Falcons' uniform to complete a two-on-one rush.

The Falcons held their slim lead for much of the second before former Falcon Christian Skoryna found the back of the net for his 24th of the season at 18:19. Tied at two to begin the third, another former Falcon, Shawn Byram, provided the game-winner with a great individual effort off a wrap-around that beat Gowan at 4:01 of the period. Fresno had Gowan pulled for nearly two minutes in search of the equalizer down the stretch but came up short.

The Falcons are now 0-4-1 during their last five games and have dropped to 30-25-7 on the year. They welcome the Long Beach Ice Dogs to Selland Arena tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. The club will be wearing special-edition St. Patrick's Day jerseys, which will be auctioned off following the game with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the American Red Cross. Tickets are still available for the game at all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com and at the Selland box office.
