CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (22-38-4-3, 51pts) saw and end come to their playoff hopes, as they fell to the Colorado Eagles (34-26-1-5, 74pts) 3-2 Wednesday night at Rabobank Arena. The loss eliminated the Condors from playoff contention.
The Condors and Eagles exchanged first period scoring chances, but it wasn't until the final minute of the frame that either club scored. Former Condors F Liam Huculak banged in a rebound past G Bryan Pitton at 19:05 to give Colorado a 1-0 lead. Shots were 15-10 in favor of the Eagles. The Eagles started G Kyle Jones between the pipes.
F Teegan Moore, playing in his first pro game, banged in a rebound early in the second frame to make it 2-0 Colorado. But F Evan Trupp put the Condors on the board at 5:09 to give the team life, scoring his 10th of the season. Trupp's second of the period at 14:25, off a F Parker Stanfield feed, tied the game at 2-2. Shots were 15-12 in favor of the Condors.
In the third, the Eagles pushed back in front for good. F Alex Penner slipped a shot past Pitton for his fourth of the season at 4:31 to make it 3-2. The Condors mounted a comeback effort, putting 16 third period shots on goal, but the equalizer eluded the home team.
