Kansas City Comets News Release


The Comets fell 12-6 in St. Louis on Saturday night, marking their second in as many outings against the Steamers. St. Louis scored the first four goals of the game and led 8-3 at halftime in the game. Steamers player/coach Daryl Doran finished with five points (two goals, three assists) to lead all scorers. Jason Cole, Steve Butcher, Craig Scheer, and Sipho Sibiya all added a pair of goals for the hosts. Dino Delevski paced the Comets with two scores and an assist for three points. DJ Horvath took the loss in goal for the Comets with 10 saves. Brett Phillips got the win with 21 saves.

Kansas City was credited with 55 shots on goal in the game, marking an MISL season high. St. Louis blocked 23 of those shots before they reached Phillips in net. THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE:

The Comets will practice this week at the Kansas City Soccer Dome. The team is scheduled to have off on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Kansas City Comets practices are open to the media and public. Please call Sharon Capps at 816-474-2255 to confirm player and staff availability.

Kansas City has the weekend off and will return to action on Sunday, November 9, with a game in San Diego against the Sockers. Game time at San Diego Sports Arena will be 5:00 p.m. Pacific. Following that contest, the Comets continue on to Milwaukee (November 14) and Philadelphia (November 15) before coming home to face the KiXX on November 28.

ODDS AND ENDS: - Comets rookie defender Dusan Radovanovic made his MISL debut against the Steamers and finished with a goal and four blocked shots.

- Rookie keeper Josh Schreck also made his Comets debut, playing the final 11:50 of the game. Schreck, a graduate of Bishop Miege High School and Benedictine College, allowed two goals on five shots.

- The Comets enter the week with the MISL's second-best offense (6.7 goals per game). Miodrag Djerisilo (seven points) and Dino Delevski (six points) both rank among the League's top ten scorers. Djerisilo is tied for second in the MISL with six assists.

- Rookie midfielder Ryan DiNunzio has scored a point in both of his first two games as a Comet. He recorded an assist on October 18 against Monterrey, and tallied his first MISL goal on Saturday against the Steamers.
