Omaha Lancers News Release

FARGO, ND - Louie Rowe recorded a hat trick including the game-tying and game-winning goal on Saturday night while Zach Driscoll made 34 saves as the Omaha Lancers came away with a 4-3 comeback win over the Fargo Force at Scheels Arena.

It only took 40 seconds for the first goal of the game. After an interception inside the neutral zone by Fargo started a rush back the other way. Alec Marsh cut to the middle of the ice and created a two-on-one opportunity for the Force. TJ Roo went hard to the net and fired in the pass from Alec Marsh for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Roo's 12th of the year assisted by Marsh with the pass and Brody Stevens on the secondary assist.

A power-play goal by Fargo put them ahead of the Lancers 2-0 in the second period. Riley Tufte and Justin Baudry worked the puck on the right side of the ice before sending it quickly through the hash marks to Denis Smirnov who let a one-timer go that went by the right leg pad of Zach Driscoll for the 2-0 lead at 3:12 of the middle frame.

Omaha responded a few minutes later to get on the board. As the Force tried to move the puck out of their own defensive zone, Brendan Smith stepped up to keep the puck in and immediately sent it on net. Louie Rowe was left all alone at the top of the crease. His original shot was stopped by Mathias Israelsson but the rebound was gathered by Rowe and lifted over the left leg pad of Israelsson at 7:27 of period two to pull Omaha's deficit to one goal. It was Rowe's second goal in as many nights with the lone assist to Brendan Smith.

The Lancers took advantage of a power-play to tie the game courtesy of Josh French. On the man advantage, Omaha set up around Fargo's penalty-kill. Jimmy Schuldt skated to the center of the blueline and sent a pass to the left circle. Josh French took the pass, skated in, and let a wrist shot go that found a way through traffic and beat Mathias Israelsson to tie the game 2-2 at 13:19 of the second period. The goal was French's fourth point in two games.

Fargo regained the lead on a shot from the captain, Mike Babcock. Brody Stevens moved the puck into the left circle as Babcock came in from the right point position. Stevens saw him and sent the puck into the right wing circle where Babcock sent a one-timer by Zach Driscoll for a 3-2 lead at 4:06 of the final period in regulation. Stevens and Alec Marsh were credited with the assists on the go-ahead goal.

In a span of 31 seconds the Lancers took their first and only lead of the night. At 7:16 of the third period, Louie Rowe scored his second goal of the night from the offensive zone hash marks as he sent the puck by Mathias Israelsson to tie the game up 3-3. Just 21 seconds later Rowe was credited with a hat trick on his third goal of the night and 18th of the year. While on the power-play, a loose puck was picked up and touched by Nick Rivera and Louie Rowe. After it was reviewed, Rowe got credit with the eventual game-winning goal 7:47 into period three.

Zach Driscoll put aside 34 of 37 shots for his 8th win of the season.

The Omaha Lancers are back on the road Friday night for the short trip to Lincoln to face the Stars at 7:05PM. Can't make the trip? LIVE coverage of the game begins at 6:50PM CST with the Valpak Pregame Show on The Mighty 1290 KOIL, www.mighty1290koil.com, and www.fasthockey.com.
