Thunder Hang on in Green Bay for Two in a Row

Green Bay, WI - The Bloomington Thunder finished their weekend with a 3-2 win over the Green Bay Gamblers to grab two straight wins. Bloomington has just two games left in the 2014-15 regular season with the season finale against the Gamblers on April 11th from the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. One game remains in the season series and Bloomington now leads 4-1-0 over the Gamblers through five games.

A back and forth first period resulted in one goal for the Thunder. One of the team's ten shots in the period was deflected in front by Shane Bednard (Bowling Green State University) to beat Jason Pawloski (Minnesota State University-Mankato). The Macomb, MI native scored his team high 16th goal of the year on a feed from Vladislav Dzhioshvili as the line mates combined for a goal for the second straight game. Goaltender Logan Halladay (University of Minnesota) also stopped 8-8 in the first help the Thunder to the 1-0 lead at the intermission.

Van Barr (Western Michigan University) wasted no time in the second period and capitalized on a power play. 11 seconds into the man advantage and just 1:16 into the period, the Kansas City, MO native unloaded a slap shot past Pawloski.

Green Bay answered back just over two minutes later on a loose puck. Luke Bafia hammered the puck in for his first goal of the season, making it 2-1. The Thunder turned it the other way at the drop of a hat. Mitch Slattery (St. Cloud State University) ended the night for Pawloski under 30 seconds later with his sixth goal of the year. Kevin Reich came in relief for the Gamblers and stopped six of six to end the period 3-1 in favor of the Thunder.

Nikolas Koberstein (University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Montreal Canadiens) earned assists on both Thunder goals in the second, in route to team high two points on the night. The Thunder held the 3-1 lead into the break denying the Gamblers from chances late in the period.

The Gamblers made the third period, putting 14 shots on net. They were able to bring the game within one goal just 2:57 into the period as Matt Dawson's shot rang off the crossbar and in. The Thunder held off chances from the Thunder and despite best efforts, were stymied by Reich who stopped all 15 shots he faced in relief.

Halladay was not to be out done in the game with 27 saves and his fourth win in five games. Pawloski suffers his 20th loss of the season after just 24 minutes of work in the game

The Thunder are now 27-24-7 on the season and still hold fifth place in the Eastern Conference Standings.

The Thunder will play their final road game on Friday, April 10th against the Des Moines Buccaneers. It will be the second and final meeting between the teams this season. Bloomington walked away with a 5-2 win in their only meeting from Des Moines this season.

Next Home Game: It's the final game of the 2014-15 season for the Bloomington Thunder and it's Fan Appreciation Night. Tons of prizes will be handed out to fans at the game and every fan will walk away from the game as a winner.
