Modesto Nuts News Release
Visalia, C.A. - After tying the game late, the Modesto Nuts fell 3-2 against the Visalia Rawhide on Wednesday night at Recreation Park.
With two outs in the seventh, Omar Carrizales delivered a RBI single for the Nuts (8-11) to knot the game at two.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Rawhide (13-6) retook the lead when Domingo Leyba whacked a leadoff double before Henry Castillo came up with the game-winning RBI single against Helmis Rodriguez (L, 1-1).
The Nuts had chances to take control of this game in the middle innings but stranded runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
Carlos Polanco started the game and allowed two Rawhide runs in the first two innings. The Nuts' righty settled in after that and retired nine in a row in the second through fifth innings. The right hander worked five innings, struck out five and walked two.
The Nuts will try to avoid the sweep in the final game of the three-game series on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 6:55 p.m. Listen live online.
