Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release
Grand Prairie - The AirHogs found themselves down 7-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon but scored six runs to tie it up and send the game to extra innings. In the tenth though they could not muster another comeback and fell to the Kansas City T-Bones 9-8. The AirHogs scored the first run of the game but until the ninth it was all T-Bones as they led 7-1. The AirHogs rallied in front of a crowd of 5,786. They put six runs on the board with Stephen Malcolm and Joe Staley each getting two RBIs. Kenny Held also contributed to the rally going 3-for-4 including a double in the top of the tenth to put the AirHogs within one. Aaron King went 2-for-5 including a single in the ninth to start the rally and a ground rule double in the tenth to try to start another comeback for the AirHogs. The rally ended in the tenth on a game ending double play and the AirHogs found themselves just a little short.
On the mound for the AirHogs was Derek Blacksher going six innings and only giving up three runs. He struck out six over his six innings. Receiving the loss for the AirHogs was Justin Dowdy who is now 0-2 for the season. He gave up two runs in his two-thirds of an inning.
The AirHogs have a record of 1-4 at home but look to tomorrow's afternoon game to try to get closer to .500 on the year. They will wrap up their series with the T-Bones tomorrow at 4:05 P.M. On the mound will be Josh Strawn for the AirHogs and Lucas Irvine for Kansas City
