MONTGOMERY, AL., - The Columbus Clingstones (13-19, 39-59) took an early 1-0 lead but a quick surge from the Montgomery Biscuits (15-17, 53-48) offense put Columbus in a hole it could not come back from in a 3-2 loss on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Decisive Plays: An RBI single from Cal Conley gave Columbus a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Montgomery responded with a one-out triple from Brayden Taylor and an RBI single from Tatem Levins. A two-run third inning gave Montgomery a 3-1 lead. Adam Zebrowski crushed a solo home run (6) in the seventh to bring Columbus within a run. With the tying run at first in the ninth, Geraldo Quintero grounded out to end the game.
Key Contributors: Zebrowski (1-for-4, HR, RBI) and Conley (2-for-4, RBI) powered the Columbus offense while Brian Moran (4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 SO) was electric in relief. For Montgomery, Ty Johnson (7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 SO) carried the Biscuits while Colton Ledbetter, Homer Bush Jr., and Taylor collected RBI hits.
Notable: Columbus falls to 13-20 in one-run games this season and 1-6 since returning from the All-Star break on July 18. Moran set a new single-game career-high in innings with four scoreless frames.
