Columbus Recalls Walser And Nedorost

Syracuse, New York (October 19, 2002) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Derrick Walser and center Andrej Nedorost from Syracuse.

Walser, 23, appeared in 73 games with Syracuse last season, recording 23 goals, 38 assists and 70 penalty minutes. The Crunch's lone AHL All-Star in 2001-02, Walser's 61 points was a team-high. Walser made his NHL debut on April 10, 2002 against San Jose and scored his first NHL goal on April 12, 2002 vs. Atlanta. A native of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Walser was originally signed as a free agent by Columbus on September 12, 2002.

Nedorost, 22, appeared in 37 games with Syracuse last season, recording five goals, 13 assists and 28 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on March 30, 2002 against San Jose, recording his first NHL assist. In three games with Columbus last year, Nedorost recorded two assists and two penalty minutes. A native of Trencin, Slovakia, Nedorost was Columbus' tenth pick, 286th overall, in the 2000 Entry Draft.

The Crunch's Express Mart Opening Night is tonight against the Binghamton Senators. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive mini replica championship banners.
