Columbus Recalls Defenseman Kris Russel

Syracuse, NY (November 27, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Kris Russell from the Crunch and placed right wing Derek Dorsett on Injured Reserve.

Russell, 21, has skated in 14 games for the Crunch this season, collecting three goals and five assists. He has also appeared in five games for Columbus this season, notching one assist. A native of Caroline, Alberta, Russell was selected by Columbus in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Dorsett was placed on injured reserved after suffering a hand injury during Columbus' game last night vs. Phoenix. He has appeared in seven games with the Crunch this season, tallying one goal, five assists and 35 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 12 games with Columbus this season, recording one goal, one assist and a team-high 63 penalty minutes. A native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dorsett, 21, was selected by Columbus in the ninth round, 189th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch's next game is Friday, November 28 as they face-off against Toronto at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
