This is the ninth 2016 regular-season contest for Crew SC as well as its second of three 2016 regular-season clashes against Montreal. The Impact returns to MAPFRE Stadium for the conclusion of the series on June 18. Overall, Columbus is 5-1-0 against Montreal in Central Ohio during all-time regular-season play, outscoring the Impact by an 11-4 margin over that span.
Following this match, Crew SC continues its three-match homestand by hosting an international friendly against Liga MX's Veracruz (May 11) in a contest that will feature live streaming audio on ColumbusCrewSC.com with Neil Sika and Dwight Burgess. Next Saturday, the Black & Gold conclude the homestand by hosting Western Conference opponent Colorado in League play.
Last weekend at CenturyLink Field against Sounders FC, Black & Gold goalkeeper Steve Clark made seven saves, tying his regular-season MLS single-match best. He previously registered seven stops on one other regular-season occasion, at Orlando City SC on May 30, 2015.
During the contest in Seattle, Clark surpassed the 250-save milestone for his MLS career, finishing the match with 253 in all-time League play. He becomes the fifth Crew SC goalkeeper to reach that amount, joining William Hesmer (412), Jon Busch (367), Mark Dougherty (271) and Andy Gruenebaum (270).
Crew SC playmaker Federico Higuain is closing in on the most regular-season corner kicks in club history. The Argentine has sent in 38 corners this season, putting him at 475 for his Black & Gold regular-season career. He trails only Robert Warzycha (503 corners all-time) in the category.
