COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew today announced that tickets for its 2021 Campeones Cup match against Deportivo Cruz Azul of LIGA MX are now on sale. The Black & Gold will host Cruz Azul on Wednesday, September 29 [8:00 p.m. ET / ESPN2, Univision and TUDN in the U.S. | TSN and TVA Sports in Canada | Canal 5 in Mexico], marking the first-ever international sporting contest played at Lower.com Field.

Campeones Cup is the annual matchup between the reigning MLS and Liga MX champions, with this year's match being the third edition of the contest. Media credentialing information for the match will be announced at a later date.

The Crew qualified for the 2021 Campeones Cup by virtue of winning the 2020 MLS Cup by defeating Seattle Sounders FC 3-0 (December 12) - the largest margin of victory in MLS Cup history. The September 29 contest marks the Club's first appearance in Campeones Cup. Should the Black & Gold win against Cruz Azul, they would win their first-ever international trophy. The Crew has previously participated in the following international competitions: the Concacaf Giants Cup (2001), the Concacaf Champions' Cup (2003) and most recently the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2021).

Representing LIGA MX, Deportivo Cruz Azul earned a spot in the Campeones Cup after defeating Club Leon and winning its third Campeon de Campeones match - the contest between the winners of LIGA MX's Apertura and Clausura regular seasons, in which Cruz Azul had won the 2021 Clausura title.

Campeones Cup, together with Leagues Cup, are part of a larger partnership between the two most important soccer leagues in North America, MLS and LIGA MX, launched in 2018. To learn more about the Campeones Cup, visit the official website: www.CampeonesCup.com.
