COLUMBIA, S.C. (December 4, 2006) -- The Columbia Inferno, proud affiliate of the Toronto Marlies of the AHL and Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL, are hosting their fifth-annual "Teddy Bear Toss" during the Friday, December 8 game against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Inferno also announced collaboration with Palmetto Health for a school supplies drive and a partnership with the Marine Corps for Toys for Tots.

"We are all very excited for the opportunity to give something back to the Midlands. Each event deserves individual attention, and we are hoping for some strong support and generous contributions during this year's holiday season," said general manager Kevin Kavanagh.

The Toss is being sponsored by Christian family radio station WMHK 89.7 FM and fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear with them to the game in order to get $3 off their ticket at the Carolina Coliseum box office. After the Inferno score their first goal of the game, fans are asked to toss their stuffed animals onto the ice in celebration. The bears will be collected and distributed to emergency workers including firemen, police, and paramedics throughout the Midlands to comfort children during times of crisis. Fans can go to Build-A-Bear Workshop at Columbiana Centre Mall off Harbison Boulevard for 10% off their bear purchase when mentioning the Inferno's "Teddy Bear Toss."

On Dec. 15th, the Inferno will be working with Palmetto Health in the "Good Seats for Good Samaritans" school supply drive. Fans bringing supplies such as packs of pencils, pens, notebooks, and other items will receive $3 off each ticket per donation to that evening's game against the South Carolina Stingrays. Palmetto Health will also be taking donations inside the arena, and will distribute the supplies to local charities.

The Inferno are also collaborating with the United States Marine Corps' annual Toys for Tots drive on Saturday, Dec. 16th. Fans are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to the game against the Pensacola Ice Pilots for $3 off their ticket at the Coliseum box office. The drive, begun in 1947, annually collects and distributes toys to needy children during the winter holidays.

Face-off for all three games is set for 7:05 p.m.

Partial season tickets, group outings, and individual game tickets are still available by calling 803.256.PUCK or by logging on to ColumbiaInferno.com.
