THREE BASES LOADED WALKS LEAD TO COLUMBIA WIN: The Fireflies used three bases loaded walks to bolster their offense to a 4-3 win over Myrtle Beach Saturday night at TicketReturn.com Field. Columbia has now won three consecutive games and can take the series with a win tomorrow. Carter Jensen led the eighth off with his third hit of the game, a single to right. Columbia's (21-19) backstop is 9-13 on the series, including a four-hit performance Saturday evening. After an Omar Hernandez sacrifice bunt and a Guillermo Quintana ground out, Myrtle Beach (21-20) opted to intentionally walk Erick Peña. After Yeudi Advincola was hit by a pitch, Lizandro Rodriguez drew a six pitch walk that plated Jensen and broke the stalemate, giving Columbia a 4-3 lead. The Fireflies did the majority of their scoring in the first inning though. Jensen got things going with a single that scored Jean Ramirez in the top of the first with one out. Next, Guillermo Quintana and Omar Hernandez drew bases loaded walks to give Columbia a 3-0 lead before Myrtle Beach could even come to the plate.

JUMP STARTING JENSEN: Backstop Carter Jensen has been on a tear this series vs Myrtle Beach. Wednesday, Columbia's catcher went 3-4 with two doubles and a homer. On the series, he is now 5-8 with three doubles and a home run. He has scored two runs and has two RBI in the two games so far.

WALLACE RUNNING WILD: In the third baseman's first two games in Columbia, he is 6-8 with four RBI vs the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The former Razorback has now played his first five professional baseball games and is 7-15 (.46) with two extra-base hits, five RBI, four walks and only one strikeout.

SECOND-HALF FIREFLIES?: After trudging to the finish line of the first-half of the season with a Carolina League-worst 18-48 record, the Fireflies burst onto the scene in the second-half, sweeping Augusta after taking two of the first three games with the RiverDogs to begin the second slate 8-1. Since then, the Fireflies have a 13-18 record (.419) and are five games back of first place.

ONE-RUN FUN: The Fireflies have won three-consecutive games against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and all three games have been decided by a single run. In fact, only one of the five games this series have been decided by more than one run, a 7-4 loss to the Pelicans Wednesday. On the season, the Fireflies have a 19-15 record in one-run contests.

NEXT STOP, SEGRA PARK: Following today's game with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the Fireflies return home for a 12-game homestand where they will play the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and the Salem Red Sox. Currently, Columbia and Kannapolis are separated by only a half-game in the second-half standings, so this six-game set could have playoff implications as we head to the final 24 games of the season.

BOLSTERED BULLPEN: After Wander Arias and Matt Stil twirled 6.1 one-run innings Friday night, Marlin Willis and Ben Wereski kept the streak alive with 4.1 scoreless frames. Columbia's bullpen has kept the bats alive to edge ahead by a single run each of the last two nights. Had Columbia lost both of those games, they would be in fifth place and four games back of the Charleston RiverDogs in the second-half standings.
