San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- First baseman Daryl Jones hit a walk off RBI single to give the Colts the 6-5 victory over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in 12 innings Thursday night at Foster Field.

Jones's single came with the one out and the bases loaded, and it scored second baseman Jason Diaz. Diaz drew a one-out walk, advanced to second on centerfielder Ronnie Gaines's single, and reached third when WhiteWing reliever Alberto Reyes opted to intentionally walk designated hitter Cory Patton.

Reyes (1-2) took the loss after recording just one out in the 12th inning. He gave up the winning run on two hits and a pair of walks. Colts' reliever Michael Hacker (1-0) earned the win by virtue of pitching a scoreless top of the 12th.

The Colts took a 3-0 lead in the first, but the WhiteWings rallied to tie the game in the third. Rio Grande Valley went ahead 5-3 in the fifth and held the lead all the way into the ninth.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Colts recorded three consecutive hits to tie the game again. Left fielder Josh Banda hit an RBI double, and scored on catcher Michael Pair's RBI single. It was Pair's first professional hit.

Both clubs were held scoreless in the 10th and 11th, but the Colts broke through and won the game in the 12th.

The win improves the Colts to 16-17, while the loss drops the WhiteWings to 20-13. It also knocks Rio Grande Valley out of first place in the United League.
