Thunder Fall to the Cats

Fort Worth, Texas - The McAllen Thunder (12-23) were defeated by the Fort Worth Cats (18-16) 7-3 on Friday night at La Grave Field.

McAllen got the scoring started in the first inning as Miguel Alfonzo drove in Mike Demperio from second base with a single making it a 1-0. Demperio ended the night going 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Then the Thunder added the second run in the third inning courtesy of a Gio Rosa sacrifice fly that made it a 2-0 game.

The Cats would take the lead in the third inning from the Thunder on a RBI double by C.J. Beatty that allowed Chuck Caufield to score the third run. Caufield drove in the first run of the Cats on a double, which allow Derek Marshall to score.

The Cats would add insurance runs in the seventh inning, as Beatty would drive in two more runs to put the game out of reach for the Thunder. Beatty ended the night with three RBI and went 2-for-4 on the evening.

Demetrius Banks (2-2) took the loss for the Thunder while scattering six hits, four runs, and struck out five hitters in six innings of work.

James Giulietti (2-3) got the win for the Cats as he allowed two runs on six hits in six innings of work.

The McAllen Thunder will wrap up the four game series versus the Fort Worth Cats on Saturday night at La Grave field with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
