San Angelo Colts News Release

Amarillo, Texas--- After consecutive nights of rallies that fell short, the Colts came back to win on Memorial Day. It didn't start well for the Colts as they allowed four in the first inning beginning with an RBI single by Alberto Cruz to make it 1-0. Stephen Douglas' hit his first homerun of the season a three run shot and just like that it was 4-0 Dillas after one. Douglas did it all not only homering but came in from centerfield to pitch the ninth.

The Colts cut it in half right away as former Colts Captain Jason Crosland, who only re-joined the team on Saturday, tied it up with his first homer a two run smash and it was 4-2. After the Dillas counted with a solo run in the bottom of the second to make it 5-2, it was all Colts the rest of the way.

The Colts scored in five straight innings and every inning the rest of the way except the ninth highlighted by a six run explosion in the top of the fourth. Adam Hale got it going with a leadoff homerun, who wound up batting twice that inning, as 10 men came to the plate. Jason Crosland then singled and three batters later shortstop Butch Ballez continued his hot hitting with his second homerun of the season a two run blast to tie the game at 5-5. The Colts were only half done as they added two more on a double by Jason Landreth to take their first lead of the game 7-5 and never look back. Landreth would score on an error to cap off the inning to make it 8-5.

San Angelo added a pair the next inning in the fifth on Mike Pettibone's second triple of the season and Tyler Goodro, who was making his first start behind the plate, added an RBI single to make it 10-5. Amarillo made it 10-6 in the bottom of the fifth on a leadoff homerun by Joaquin Rodriguez his first. Pettibone was at it again the following inning in the sixth with an RBI double to make it 11-6. Josh Collazo's RBI single in the seventh then made it 12-6. Both teams exchanged a pair of runs in the eighth. A comedy of errors by Amarillo in the top of the inning three in all and six in the game lead to a 14-6 lead. Amarillo scored two of their own in the bottom of the eighth on an Adam De La Garza two run triple to make it 14-8, which would be the final in the Colts win.

Caleb Rodgers gutted out five innings to pick up the win and Matt Chutchian got the rare four inning save in a great relief performance. Tuesday the Colts and Dillas complete their four game set as San Angelo looks to even the series. San Angelo sends out right-hander Eziquel Astacio against a pitcher to be announced. Game four begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 6:50 and the first pitch at 7:05 on 1260 KKSA.
