Colts Rally Falls Short Again

San Angelo Colts News Release


San Angelo, Texas--- The Colts scored three times in the first but were again plagued by walks and lost by a run 8-7 in the second game of the four game series in Amarillo. The Colts got a leadoff single by Michael Pettibone and John Wagle's sac bunt allowed him to reach safely on an error by Dillas third baseman Adam De La Garza. On a double steal attempt and overthrow of third base that allowed Pettibone to score and it was 1-0 San Angelo. Wagle would score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Jason Landreth then walked and Adam Hale followed with a double driving in Landreth to make it 3-0.

Much like the night before the lead did not last long as Amarillo countered with two in the second to make it 3-2. Amarillo took the lead for good with three in the third when singles by Adam De La Garza and Joaquin Rodriguez drove in a combined three runs to make it 5-3. After Jason Crosland drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the third to make it 5-4, the Dillas followed the next inning with three more in the third on an RBI single by Matt Redding, a sac fly by Adam De La Garza, and RBI double by Joaquin Rodriguez that made it 8-4.

The Colts for the second night in a row rallied with two in the fifth on and RBI double by Josh Collazo and an RBI single by Jason Crosland that made it 8-6. The Colts would add one more in the seventh on a sac fly by Josh Collazo to pull to within a run at 8-7, but that would be as close as they got and lose by that final. Ramon Geronimo would come on for the second night in a row to close it out and pick up his second in as many nights.

The Colts and Dillas are in action on Monday Memorial Day in game three of this four game set. It will be righty Caleb Rodgers for San Angelo making his first start of the year against right-hander Ralph Roberts. Game three begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 6:50 and the first pitch at 7:05 on 1260 KKSA.
