San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---The Colts bats were on fire Monday night as the Colts rocked WhiteWings starter Alexander Concepcion, lighting him up for not one, not two, not three, but five home runs and get the 12-7 victory. For the first time all series, the Colts were able to strike first. Catcher Trey Carter came to bat in the bottom of the second with two on and one out and delivered a three run bomb over the left-center field wall. That was the first of five round trippers to take place at Foster Field Monday night. In the third inning Clay Calfee sent his fifth homerun of the year out to left field and off the Shannon clubhouse. Daryl Jones sent out a bomb of his own in the fifth inning. Then in the sixth, Andrew Riddick and Cory Patton sent back to back jacks out of the stadium ending the night for Concepcion. One bright spot did surface in the bottom of the seventh for Rio as they were able to turn a 5-4-3 triple play.
Brian Henschel (2-4 4.57) notched a well deserved victory, but it was not easy for the hurler. The Wings would answer every score the Colts would put up until the Colts were able to take a two run lead in the sixth inning. Henschel was also nailed in the forearm by a line drive in the fifth inning, but would stay in and pitch through the sixth. Alexander Concepcion (3-3 9.00) recorded his third loss of the season giving up 10 runs on 12 hits. Concepcion is also the Wings pitching coach.
The Colts will enjoy a well deserved day off on Tuesday, but will return to action on Wednesday night against the McAllen Thunder. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Wednesday is also Sherwin Williams Sure Win Wednesday sponsored by Sherwin Williams.
