
Edmonton OF Todd Linden and Calgary RHP Dusty Gober Named Players of the Week

(San Ramon, CA) The North American Baseball League, one of the premier independent professional leagues on the continent, announced today that Edmonton Capitals outfielder Todd Linden and Calgary Vipers right-handed pitcher Dusty Gober have been named the Rawlings Players of the Week for the week of June 27th.
Edmonton Capitals outfielder Todd Linden recorded 13 hits in 28 at-bats last week for a .464 batting average. Linden recorded 6 extra base hits, including 3 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 homeruns. In addition, Linden drove in 12 runs, scored 9 times, and stole 3 bases. The Caps outfielder, who turns 31 on Thursday, played for the San Francisco Giants in parts of 5 seasons from 2003-2007, finishing the 2007 campaign with the Florida Marlins. He also spent time in Triple-A with the Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, and New York Yankees. Linden owns a .231 MLB career batting average with 8 homeruns and 36 RBI in 270 career games. This year for Edmonton, Linden is batting .359 with 5 homeruns, 28 RBI, 24 walks, and just 20 strikeouts.
Calgary Vipers right hander Dusty Gober pitched 12.2 innings last week over the course of two starts to compile a 2-0 record. The righty gave up just 1 earned run for a 0.71 ERA on the week. In his first start last week at Chico, Gober pitched 6.2 innings and did not give up a run, allowing only 4 hits. In his second start, Gober pitched 6.2 innings giving up just 1 earned run on 6 hits. Last season, Gober tied the Vipers' season wins mark with 10 while losing just 1 game. He led the Golden Baseball League in starts (19), threw the 2nd most innings (116.2), and struck out 88 batters in 2010. So far this season, the 30 year old is 3-1 with a 3.66 ERA through 32 innings. 2011 is Gober's fifth professional season.
