Colts Starting Pitching Leads to Sweep of WhiteWings

San Angelo, TX - San Angelo Colts (23-16) starter Logan Williamson (5-2) made sure the Harlingen WhiteWings (14-25) would never see the Colts' bullpen in this series, completing the sweep with a third-straight complete game in a 12-1 tonight at Foster Field.

Williamson scattered six hits, three of which didn't leave the infield, while striking out eight and walking four. He only allowed multiple base runners in the eighth and ninth innings.

It was in the ninth when the WhiteWings got their run as Argelis Nunez led off with a ground-rule double, moved to third on an infield single by Brian Nichols, and scored on a one-out single by Terry Roblez.

The Colts struck in the first against Kenny Evoniuk (0-4) when Tyrone Pendergrrass singled, stole second, moved to third when the throw went into center field and scored on a single by Andres Rodriguez to make it 1-0.

The Colts blew it open in the second, batting around to take a 6-0 lead. Aaron Cone led off with a seven-pitch walk. Jose Torres, Wyn Diggs and Charley Belew followed with three-straight singles. John Anderson hit a sacrifice-fly. One out later, Bryan Frichter walked and Rodriguez capped the inning with a three-run double.

In the third, Torres drew a one out walk and scored on a two-out single by Belew to make it 7-0.

In the fifth, Cone led off with another seven-pitch walk. One out later, Diggs singled and then Belew walked. Bobby Darling came in and gave up an RBI-single to Anderson before walking Pendergrass to force in a run, making it 9-0.

Diggs hit an RBI-single to send Cone home in the sixth to make it 10-0.

The Colts capped off their scoring in the eighth when Cone hit a two-run home run against former-Colt Brandon Kling to make it 12-0.

The WhiteWings travel to Amarillo for the first of three with the Dillas tomorrow night at 7:05. Right-hander Alex Gett (1-5) will face left-hander Micah Posey (5-1).
