San Angelo Colts News Release

Robstown, Texas--- The first-place San Angelo Colts have announced the trade of left-hander Drew Coffey for two offensive players with triple-A experience. Coffey is headed to the Shreveport-Bossier Captains of the American Association. In return, joining the Colts lineup will be 1B/OF Selwyn Langaigne, and 2B Rich Paz.

Langaigne is a career .286 hitter in 12 years of professional baseball. The 1B/OF spent seven years in the Toronto Bluejays organization reaching the triple-A level in the 2000-02 seasons. Selwyn has also spent time in Central/United League and the Mexican League. For the Captains, Selwyn was hitting .218, with 20 RBI's, in 48 games.

Paz also brings an impressive resume to the Colts. A career .280 hitter in 12 seasons, the second baseman has seen time in the Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Chicago White Sox, and the Houston farm systems. In 2008, Paz hit .287 in 67 games with the Corpus Christi Hooks, the double-A affiliate for the Astros. The Venezuela native reached triple-A in 2003-04, and 2008 with the Brewers, White Sox, and Houston. Paz was batting .262, with a homer, and 18 RBI's in 48 games for the Captains.

Southpaw Drew Coffey spent time in the Royals and Rockies Organization before joining the Colts. Coffey had made 13 starts as the number two starter in the rotation. The left-hander reached a 2-2 record, boasting 46 strikeouts in 68.1 innings. Opponents were hitting .254 against Coffey.

Colts skipper Doc Edwards has been looking to add veterans to his relatively young offensive ball club. Edwards said, "I'm really lucky to have gotten these guys, they both have championship experience right here in the United League with the Aces. They've been on winning clubs in the past, and know how to win. That's what I've been looking for the past two or three weeks."

Expect to see the new additions in the Colts lineup when San Angelo returns to Foster Field on Sunday, the 15th, for Dog Days of Summer. First pitch is set for 5:05, gates will open at 4:05.

San Angelo and Coastal Bend will continue their four game series today at Fairgrounds Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. The Kemps pre-game show will begin at 6:50 pm.
