Barrie Colts News Release
Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts are proud to announce today that center Luke Pither has been named the Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending September 20th.
The honour comes after Pither scored seven goals in the Colts first two wins. Pither and the Colts opened the season Thursday night against the Owen Sound Attack with a 9-1 victory. Pither scored four times, three of which came with the extra attacker.
On Saturday, Pither continued his great work on the power play, scoring another three times with the extra man, including the game-winner in overtime as Barrie won 5-4.
The 20 year old over-age forward from Burketon, Ontario is playing his fifth season in the OHL, and first in a Colts jersey. Last year he registered 35 goals and 72 points in 64 games with the Guelph Storm and Belleville Bulls.
Honourable mention goes out to Colts rookie center Alexander Burmistrov, who leads the league in points through the first weekend. He has three goals and five assists for eight points, including a five-point performance against Niagara Saturday night.
