Colts Complete Six Game Series Sweep

SAN ANGELO- The San Angelo Colts(34-32) swept the six games series with a 7-5 win over the Rio Grande WhiteWings (32-36) Friday night at Foster field.

The new look Wings hit the board early when Buddy Elmore was hit by the pitch, Cody Collins then advanced Elmore on a double down the first base line.

This set the stage for Rolando Petit. Petit scored Elmore and Collins on a two run single giving the Wings an early 2-0 lead.

San Angelo answered right back with two runs of their own. Steve Rinaudo and Jon Dziomba scored on a Braden Embry double tying the game at two runs even.

In the top of the second inning RGV regained the lead, Hector Garcia and Hiroki Itakura reached on back to back hits.

Albert Carpen scored Garcia and Itakura on a two run RBI double as the Wings regained the lead 4-2.

Carpen later scored on a RBI single from Roberto Ramirez adding to the lead making it 5-2 Wings.

Rinaudo singled and later scored on a RBI double from Dziomba cutting the lead to 5-3.

Dziomba later scored on a sacrifice fly from Braden Embry trimming the lead to one run 5-4.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Cody Hudson led off with a solo home run tying the game yet again at 5-5.

San Angelo regained the lead on a sacrifice fly scoring Miguel Alfonzo giving the Colts a 6-5 lead.

San Angelo added an insurance run in the eighth inning with a RBI single from Rinaudo making it 7-5 Colts.

San Angelo completed the six game sweep and now winners of seven straight. The Colts find themselves right back in the playoff race as they welcome in the Edinburg Roadrunners for a five game series.

RGV will continue their 12 game road trip starting Saturday at LaGrave field, game one is set for 7:05 p.m.
