San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- Right fielder J.J. Sherrill scored on a wild pitch in the 10th inning to give the Colts a thrilling 3-2 walk-off victory over the Abilene Prairie Dogs Monday night at Foster Field.

Sherrill hit a one-out double in the 10th. Abilene reliever Kevin Gelinas then threw two wild pitches to first baseman Daryl Jones, allowing Sherrill to reach third and subsequently score. Gelinas (1-1) took the loss and also blew the save, surrendering the tying run in the ninth. In all, Gelinas gave up two runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Sherrill scored the winning run, and drove in the first run for San Angelo with an RBI single in the third. In the ninth, second baseman Ryan Hutson hit an RBI double, scoring third baseman Jason Crosland as the tying run.

Right fielder Geraldo Valentin provided all of the offense for Abilene. He hit a solo home run, his third of the year, in the second inning. Valentin then doubled and scored on an error in the fourth.

Colts starter Brian Henschel was magnificent. He struck out a season-high nine batters, and gave up two runs, one earned, on four hits in nine innings for a no decision. Henschel retired 16 in a row to end his night, and did not allow a base runner after the fourth inning.

Closer Erik Draxton (2-1) earned the win by tossing a perfect top of the 10th.

The wins improve San Angelo to 27-30, while the loss drops Abilene to 22-33. This series continues Tuesday with $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
