Harlingen, Texas - Coleman Stephens kept the McAllen Thunder (20-37) off the board during his 6 2/3 innings of work and the Rio Grande Valley White Wings (32-24) beat the McAllen Thunder, 5-0.
Stephens allowed four hits, one walk and struck out five.
Mario Mercedes boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Rio Grande Valley White Wings. He singled in the first, third, and sixth innings.
Alex Smith (1-2) took the loss for the McAllen Thunder. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
The Thunder were limited to four hits on offense which earned by Nathan Tomaszewski, Matt Redding, Roberto Rodriguez, and Craig Hertler.
The Thunder and White Wings will continue their four game series on Tuesday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
