San Angelo Colts News Release
Laredo, Texas--- After splitting a double-header on Saturday the Colts lost the final game of a four game set on Sunday, Independence Day, splitting the four game series with Laredo. What began as a shaky start for both starting pitchers turned into a pitching dual and then the Broncos had fireworks on the field in the form of runs before the game as well as after on July 4th, as the Colts lose big 14-3.
Laredo scored first getting three run right away in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Nick Mahin and a double by Jonathan Cisneros that drove in two and the Broncos were on top 3-0. The Colts answered with three of their own the very next inning on a Josh Collazo RBI double, an RBI groundout by Tyler Goodro, and a sac fly RBI by Mikey Horn in the top of the second, and it was a brand new ballgame at 3-3. Both pitchers settled down as the two righties Brian Henschel for San Angelo and the Broncos Juan Peralta put up zeros until the bottom of the sixth.
It was the sixth were the Broncos exploded on Independence Day for seven runs as eleven men plated and the Broncos were up a commanding 10-3. Laredo was not through as they added four more in the eighth to make it a 14-3, which would be the final. The Colts and Broncos split the four game series as each team takes two a piece and return home on Monday to begin a four game series with the front running Edinburg Roadrunners.
On Monday the Colts send out right-hander and pitching Coach Bryan Heaston (2-3, 5.29) who will make his first start of the year after pitching out of the bullpen all season against a pitcher yet to be named for the Roadrunners. It all begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 6:50 with the first pitch set for 7:05 on 1260 KKSA.
